Ms. Méndez has 35 years of experience in labor and employment law. Her practice focuses on counseling employers on subjects such as employment policies, wage and hour compliance, equal employment, sexual harassment, labor harassment, retaliation, terminations of employment, reductions in force, plant closings, and WARN. She provides counseling under PR Law 59-1997 (drug testing in the private sector), FMLA, ADA, statutory leaves of absence, workers' compensation, investigations, and Human Resources audits. Her practice also focuses on drafting compliant employment policies and handbooks, employment and services contracts. She also advises and represents employers in the administration and negotiation of collective bargaining agreements. Her practice also includes providing support in the labor aspects of corporate and operational restructurings, mergers, and acquisitions, including due diligence. Additionally, she creates and provides customized labor and employment training for management based on clients’ specific needs.
